Not sure if others are thinking about buying a new gaming chair anytime soon so I will post this great thread I came across. After some 8 hour gaming sessions this weekend I can tell you that my gaming/office chair at home has officially begun to suck! It was a cheap Walmart office chair but has lasted a couple of years so, worth it. Now it may be time to upgrade!
I got an Aeron chair in 2008. Expensive, yes, but a few years ago I calculated that I was down to $0.08/hour of using it. In 6 years of marathon use, nothing has broken and it actually shows no signs of wear. You'll want to get the frame that's in the right size for your height/weight. There are also different categories of adjustability, but I went for all the bells and whistles.
You'll probably spend the first month with the manual at hand so you can reference all the adjustments... Somewhere in there that became completely unconscious for me: I'll sometimes notice that I have the chair in a completely different configuration but have no memory of making the adjustments. Now that I work in a goddam office, I'm sorely tempted to buy another to bring in here. An "average" office chair seems rather like a torture device now.
